A storm approaching

Elk Lake is off the Pat Bay Highway outside Victoria BC and over the years I have seen quite a few extreme weather scenes there. In this case it was time to get back to the car fast.

About Joseph de Lange

Before retirement worked in art galleries, a photo studio, offices, and the trades. Don't travel much anymore but still photograph. For the past 5 years 95% of my photography is done with the phone. My prediction for big cameras: DSLRs and their beautiful lenses and even the smaller mirrorless cameras will be mostly a historical footnote in the not too distant future.

What a dark sky! Beautiful & scary at the same time 😀

I think it is very beautiful! Love the shadows.

  4. Thank you Madhu, It is a case of chasing scenery, a great pastime.

  5. Whoaw, that’s what I call a storm! Was that the lightning storm we had the other day?

  6. Hello Mr Toad, It’s one of those insanely hectic summers and I have not had much time for camera excursions or the computer work that comes with it. This photograph was taken a few years ago. If I remember right a rowing competition had finished and the darkness that suddenly covered us was brilliantly dramatic.

  7. I love an ominous sky; so long as I am safe within doors when it opens up. 😉

    • Hi Cara, thank you for the comment. Photographing weather is a great pastime, but I haven’t done much of that during this century since, these days, I am with you and like to be safe within doors when it opens up. However I never got wet on this excursion and, more to the point, extreme weathers are photogenic.
