Here is a pristine outhouse still being used regularly and maintained. I thought it’d have oil heat but the tank is not hooked up. Not a bad idea tho. It isn’t that there is no indoor plumbing, it is more that the family throughout the year spends a lot of its time outside.

About Joseph de Lange

Before retirement worked in art galleries, a photo studio, offices, and the trades. Don't travel much anymore but still photograph. For the past 5 years 95% of my photography is done with the phone. My prediction for big cameras: DSLRs and their beautiful lenses and even the smaller mirrorless cameras will be mostly a historical footnote in the not too distant future.

Cool outhouse! I would be worried about creepy crawlies though 🙂

    • Hi Madhu, Our lovely Mother Nature is full of creepy crawlies, but you don’t have to allow them in either house or outhouse. Outhouses are easier to maintain than bathrooms. and great to use in the heart of summer.

  2. Interesting! Isn’t it funny how sometimes things that you would never consider in terms of photography can make for the best subjects!
